A Capital Staycation at Yours Truly DC Hotel
After spending almost several months at home with canceled international trips due to the pandemic, a local staycation at Yours Truly DC was calling my name. Washington, DC area hotels like Yours Truly DC have recently reopened with safety protocols that provides guests with peace of mind and a clean place to work, play, and relax.
I spent two nights at Yours Truly DC and true to its name, I felt right at home. The interior of the hotel is draped in bohemian décor perfect for the ‘gram. The lobby, café, and bar all share the same whimsical atmosphere as if you just stepped into someone’s welcoming home instead of a hotel. The outdoor deck is filled with fresh greenery and exudes the vibe of a chic backyard. I believe the most important element of any hotel are the amenities. Feeling comfortable at all times are a must. As soon as I arrived to my room, I switched out of my clothes and into the comfy branded robe and soft bedroom slippers that were waiting for me. The TV in the room allows you to connect to your streaming services for an evening of Netflix and chill. Music and fitness lovers rejoice; there’s a record store on the main level and a micro gym on the lower level of the property. Stand-up comedy shows and sunrise yoga on the weekend? This hotel has that too. Bonus: Book the city view king room for panoramic view of the bustling neighborhood.
Let’s talk food. Mercy Me is a South American fusion café, restaurant and bar located inside of the hotel. The menu has unique offerings and every selection is tasty. If you want to grab a coffee and pastry in the morning, a pizza for lunch, or drinks with friends, Mercy Me offers endless delectable options with Latin flair. I enjoyed Mercy Me’s brunch on the outdoor deck where I ordered the ‘Hen and Pancakes’, 2 crispy pieces of tender chicken accompanied by unconventional savory pancakes made with corn and green onions topped with smoky-spicy maple syrup. The explosion of flavors left me satisfied and speechless.
If you’re looking for hip hotel with succulent food and charming aesthetics, then Yours Truly DC is the one for you. The surrounding Dupont Circle neighborhood features world-class restaurants, (free) museums, and more right at your fingertips. This hotel is the perfect location for a staycation, especially for those living in the Washington, DC metro area.
